In June 2026, France and Germany published a paper on Digital Sovereignty, outlining their political principles and priorities with regards digital sovereignty,  to provide impetus to and guidance on the upcoming discussions and legislative work at EU level.

Blockchain for Europe's members active in our Thought Leadership Group on Open Infrastructure have analysed the paper and welcome several of the principles outlined in it. This statement highlights the elements of the paper which we believe should be further expanded in the legislative debate around how to achieve digital sovereignty.
